Review of Fletch (1985) by Grayson D — 24 May 2011
Oh it's just me Dr. Rosenpenis. Chevy Chase delivers as the king of 1980's deadpan humor in Fletch with one of the most quotable films of all time. Putting on a performance that somehow manages to eclipse Ty Webb in Caddyshack, Chase is brilliant as an investigative reporter with a predilection for disguises on the story of his career.
An outstanding supporting cast including Joe Don Baker, Geena Davis, and George Wendt only add to the hilarity. This is one of the definitive comedies of the 1980's. Sadly a very weak sequel follows just like Caddyshack, but Chase got it right the first time so all is well.
Just make sure you remember the next time you order lunch get "a bloody mary, a steak sandwich....and a steak sandwich.".
