Review of Flavia the Heretic (1974) by Sarah W — 19 May 2008
Odd one this. It's kind of like a BBC2 historical drama - just with rude bits and very graphic violence! It's not anti-feminist as some people like to claim all exploitation/nunsploitation are.
If Flavia could give a victory V, wear a Union Jack dress and shriek "Girl Power!", trust me, she would. The violence is not for the faint hearted, but all of the violence and all of the sex is within the context of the story so it's debatable exactly where this stops being nunsploitation and starts being a "legitimate" film.
Very good and worth a watch.
