Review of Flatliners (2017) by Kristen S — 30 Sep 2017
I thought this movie was entertaining - although, I do wish it didn't have such a Scooby Doo type ending. Everything wrapped up just a little too nicely for my taste. Also, at times, it was a little too "preachy" - but other than that, it was well acted and well paced.
I wish the script would've taken advantage of the 1990 movie as a backdrop and allowed Kiefer Sutherland's character to continue on in this version as Nelson - that was definitely a messed opportunity.
With all that being said, I think the cast did a great job with what it had to work with and it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours. It is definitely much better than the critics' reviews indicated - to me, I think the critics all went into watching this movie wanting to hate it before the opening credits even began and, as a result, they really didn't give it a fair shot .
It was like the critics were punishing the movie because the movie did not offer the critics' preview.
