Review of Flatliners (1990) by Paul P — 12 Jun 2008
Watching this again recently, I was struck by how badly it has dated. Time has not been kind. It tries really hard to be cool but ultimately we know that it isn't and there is a lot of cringeworthy dialogue which makes it unintentionally funny.
In spite of all this, I still have a lot of affection for this film. I really like the casting (even Julia was ok in this). The plot is totally hokey but a lot of fun and whilst there isn;t anything remotely surprising or different, Schumacher tells the story well and it's always an entertaining watch. For me, the scariest thing about this film is the fact that the Bacon just doesn't seem to have aged at all.
This is a lot of fun to watch and any film that has Jack Bauer getting his ass kicked every 15 mins or so by a ten year old has to be worth a watch right?
