Review of Flatliners (1990) by Patrick K — 14 Nov 2008
This is a very, very interesting concept which is is nearly-destroyed by Joel Schumacher's hideous delivery. First of all, NO medical student on the planet would be tempted to kill themselves and then attempt a resuscitation - it has a very high risk of severe side effects, as any one with even the most basic medical background knows.
Additionally, I don't really like the poor lighting. And I HATE the quasi-religious overtones of the film. Ultimately, excellent casting and acting saves this one from supremely incompetent direction.
