Review of Flatliners (1990) by Deb S — 05 Oct 2010
A medical student named Nelson (Kiefer Sutherland) hatches a plan to explore death by briefly killing himself in a controlled environment then having his fellow medical friends bring him back to life minutes later.
Anyone who watches movies regularly would guess that this is a BAD IDEA, but these are ambitious young students remember, and their curiosity gets the better of them but none of them could possibly anticipate what is in store for them.
Upon revival they discover that their sins have manifested themselves and begin to realize that cheating death has made their worst nightmares come true! The Gothic campus setting and the surreal death experiences gives this film a generally dark and unsettling atmosphere.
