Review of Flashdance (1983) by Damaris M — 15 Apr 2009
A modern fairy tale which means: much of the script feels contrived and the plot, predictable. but don't let that be a turn off from enjoying this 80s classic. lyne even manages to present a perceptive observation about the various forms of "passionate" dancing.
the most base form being stripping in which femininity is exploited and abused for mere monetary reward, to classical ballet which can be quite sensual too - but exalts the fragility and beauty of the feminine form.
worth a look - if even just for the iconic dance interview.
