Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Jack K — 16 Feb 2009
I am rating this higher than most because I liked it. I really liked the first half. I had knots in my stomach and was on the edge of my seat loving it. But it fell emotionally flat in the second half for me.
Greg Kinnear is fantastic!!! I loved seeing him with so much screen time, ups and down, emotions.
Apparently the real Robert Kearns was a real jerk from what I've heard so this was a good adaptation of this story.
I liked Lauren Graham but wanted so much more from her, like something emotional at the end. I would really like to see her get a challenging role, maybe something independent and meaty.
Alan Alda is pretty good but after seeing him in almost the same role in Nothing But the Truth, I long for something deeper and more personal.
Overall, it is a bit mediocre film 3-1/2 stars but I bump it up to 4 stars because of Greg Kinnear's performance.
