Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Hannibal O — 15 Oct 2008
Another little gem thats going widely unnoticed by audiences. It really sucks too because Greg Kinnear does some of his best work in this (and he was great in Ghost Town) and no one is noticing. This is a classic David vs.
Goliath story and after discussing this film with a lawyer friend, apparently the filmmaker took a LOT of creative license in telling the story. Regardless, its a well told and well acted story. There are some surprise performances here from Dermot Mulroney and Alan Alda, but this is mainly Kinnear's gig.
The actor is from Indiana so I guess playing the 'aw, shucks' naive Midwesterner wasn't too much of a stretch for him. All in all though, its a very good film and try to see it before theater owners remove it from their screens (so they can make room for crap like Max Payne).
