Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Charles S — 13 Feb 2009
Yes this film revolves around a windshield wiper. But there's more to the story than that. Its about a man who is trying to do the right thing and make a lasting contribution to society. Only to have it ripped from him and twisted all in the name of greed.
This isn't the first time the "Big Three" have messed with a visionary. Do you remember the story of Tucker? He built a better car than Chrysler, Ford or GM could make at the time that was years ahead of what they were producing. The Big Three shut him down.
So this movie is more than just about a simple windshield wiper. He wasn't fighting to get a large cash settlement. He wasn't doing it for pride, well not entirely. He wanted to make right what was wrong.
Some would wonder if it was worth it to put his family and friends through that kind of hell. To sacrifice his own mental health. For Robert Kerns it was the right thing to do.
The cast, especially Greg Kinear, portray this story extremely well. Even though the premise of the story seems like a trivial issue the cast makes this film enjoyable to watch.
