Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Ricardo H — 17 Feb 2009
TRUE GENIUS...
And even if you dislike movies that slow down almost to a halt at times, it was the only way to show the frustration, the disappointment, and the impotence that Dr. Kearns felt when he hit his head against the wall time after time. The invention itself was nothing extraordinary. What was amazing what the idea and being able to put that idea into a tangible item. He did that, it was profitable, and he expected to make money out of it. Most of all, what he wanted out of it was his name behind the product, and that's what he was denied. He was offered the money, he was offered and end to the huge price he had to pay with his personal life, but he had to fight for the pride of having the world know who the real man behind the invention was. He was not selfless. As a matter of fact, I think he was very selfish, but it was his right to be, it was HIS idea and they had stolen it from him. All he wanted was for them to simply admit it and he had to lose his family, his mind, and his youth to fight a huge corporation to make them face up to their actions.
