Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Manny C — 18 Feb 2009
Here's a story that can easily sink into melodramatic/Lifetime cliches, and it damn near does. That it only hangs at the fringes of schmaltz is a credit to Greg Kinnear, in one of his few leading roles.
Kinnear plays Robert Kearns, who took on the Detroit automakers after they refused to give him credit for inventing the windshield wipers. For Kearns, it was about credit not money, but his battle lost him a great deal.
Kinnear plays this one for real, and if there weren't mega-contenders in the Best Actor race already, Kinnear could have had the golden boy at his feet.
