Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Alejandro C — 10 Jul 2009
Good "life" story.. it's kind of deep and not particularly entertaining, but it does make a good point in illustrating the fact that "life is not fair", and explores how to deal with difficult "principle" and "honor" linked choices.. specially when your family is looking at you, with their wellbeing and the respect that they have for you at stake...
So well.. there is also this other point of the movie that "you can't have everything".. so whatever you choose to do.. make sure you know what you're leaving on the table..! I guess it's a very valid point and something a prudent man should consider rather too early than too late.. perhaps that biases the movie towards a masculine audience, which can certainly identify itself much better with Mr. Kearns...
Technically the acting is quite convincing and the movie environment is uncomplicated, so it does a good job in not creating distraction from the underlying plot.. I also like the abundant innuendo, the numerous implicit conversations and the insights on the intrigues, thoughts and feelings of the characters without them being too explicit about everything..
So good.. worth a shot.. I'd recommend it to every serious man who wants to take a peek at what awaits him should he had the ambition to be competitive... rather than "just happy" :).
