Review of Flash of Genius (2008) by Lyn S — 28 Oct 2010
The story of Bob Kearns, the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper. Ford MC gets interested and in a very devious way manages to get the prototype. The movie tells us of Bob Kearns' fight to get the recognition and the money he was owed. It is a long road for him and his family, the bills, the psiquiatric institution, the lawyers... Eventually his marriage fails under the stress and his relationship with his children gets strained as well.
I tell you something about this movie, Bob Kearns was a very obstinate man who got what he wanted and deserved at a very dear price.
Besides that, this is also a story of justice, the story of an unequal fight: the flea against the lion, the man against the big corporation.
Cinematographically it is all correct, good performances, average direction and true facts. If you like courtroom films you are going to enjoy this. But it is difficult to understand how something as ordinary as a windshield wiper could generate so much trouble.
