Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Brian R — 21 Jan 2010
Excellent film by Eastwood about the Americans fighting on Mount Surbachi and the infamous second flag raise at Iwo Jima. Eastwood brillantly shows the war as unsettling and gritty, a lot American lives were lost in the outcome.
Americans back home wants to who were the men who raised the flag? The iconic picture becomes a landmark and a huge war profit since funds were dry. The one character I admire the most is Ira Hayes...
He is played by Adam Beach a Native who suffers loss, binge drinking, and racism.
