Review of Flags of Our Fathers (2006) by Travis R — 17 Aug 2010
The story behind one of the most iconic photographs ever. It's about the experiences of the flag-raisers, both during and after the war and the troubling effects they faced. The flashbacks, back and forth, can cause some confusion at first, but keeps the movie well paced.
The battle sequences are impressive, some great cinematography. I would say that it's companion piece "Letters from Iwo Jima" is probably slightly better, but this is still a worthy effort and worth a look.
