Review of Five Minutes of Heaven (2009) by Himanshu M — 04 May 2010
5 minutes of heaven is the story of a man who meets the assassin of his elder brother,33 years after the murder. He witnesses this murder himself at a very young age and since then has been blamed by his mother as the murderer because he did not do anything to save his brother. What happens when they meet? Do they reconcile and let bygones be bygones or a brother takes the revenge of his elder brother's death and gets his-- 5 minutes of heaven?
This is one movie which begins so well, keeps on really well, builds the tension when the two characters have to meet but then it goes wary, it loses its focus and the pace goes unbelievably slow. Now when a movie of less than 90 minutes running time starts feeling slow, you know there is a problem. The problem with this film is that it does not provides anything new, anything extraordinary and hence it never becomes a great film. Having said that, it does has its moments of greatness, some very deeply emotional and thrilling moments and brilliant acting by its two lead actors.
It does builds a good premise but never surpasses itself. Its very efficiently and sincerely made, only thing is it could have been much much more. Nevertheless, its an honest effort and I would recommend it for some riveting drama and great performances.
