Review of Five Minutes of Heaven (2009) by J.j.s.p. W — 06 Jun 2010
I'm shocked to learn that this film was only 90 minutes long, because it felt like a 3-hour movie while watching. Scenes were painstakingly slow, with excessive long pauses in which a character was portrayed either doing nothing, staring longingly into the distance, or chit-chatting uselessly.
The plot was equally slow--development of storylines took a long time, and it seemed as though scenes were repeated over and over again, in excess. The story was predictable and boring--probably reasons why it seemed to drag on and on.
+ dialogue had its high points--and none of it was too corny.
+ sad/depressing emotions are portrayed through cinematography--very effective work.
+ the story was a good one, it just took too long to develop, and a lot more could have been accomplished/developed in the 90 minute duration.
