Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Joy D — 03 Jun 2008
Another one of those 70s movies with no point. If you could get past the annoying Tammy Wynette songs and cross-eyed Rayette's dumbness, you could, I suppose get into the Dupea's character. I kept waiting for the point, the plot, something to anchor all the pieces of this movie together into something meaningful.
Maybe the point was just a character study of Dupea...they should have used the alternate ending and had him drive off a cliff and die. A man who is doesn't realize that he creates the very situations he tries to run from and deliberately uses women the way he doesn't deserve to live.
