Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Phil P — 27 Jul 2009
Should've been titled "Five UNeasy Pieces". Or maybe that's the point. Anyway, I was so wanting to like this a lot more. Nicholson and Black did great acting... everything about it was fine - EXCEPT the story! It had no flow to it and it became too tedious to get any meaning from it.
And just what are the "five"? There were 4 members of the Dupea family. If that's the base, who was the 5th? Or is it five aspects of Jack's character's life? This kind of film needs to come with Cliff Notes, or "Five Easy Pieces for Dummies.
