Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Andrew U — 05 Feb 2011
This is a good, but not great film, though it's been hailed as one of the great films of the 1970s. I suppose those who hail this film are overplaying the importance of Jack Nicholson. He is good in this movie, and this is his first notable leading role, but the other actors are mediocre and the film itself is far less interesting than other Nicholson films of this period such as Chinatown and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
Director Bob Rafelson reached his peak with the Monkee's Head, unfortunately.
