Review of Five Easy Pieces (1970) by Steve P — 08 Jan 2013
A subtle and beautifully composed piece, in which protagonist Jack Nicholson always appears to be at a distance from the world around him. It's a disconnection and alienation that is a core theme to the film, but it's also interesting to see how fleshed-out and diverse the female characters are here, and how Nicholson interacts with them.
Noteworthy supporting performances from lovely ladies Karen Black, Lois Smith and Susan Anspach.
