Review of Five Broken Cameras (2011) by Steve S — 06 Sep 2013
An eye opening experience. A small olive farmer watches as the Israeli settlements quickly overtake his land and the land of his village. He films his experience for 5 years as protesters, armed with nothing but flags and cameras are greeted time after time with bullets and tear gas.
He documents escalating atrocities. A man, handcuffed and subdued, is shot in the leg, just because. When an Israeli court rules that the settlements and barrier wall are indeed illegal, the Israelis burn all the section of his farm that is behind the wall.
It takes 2 1/2 years for the wall to come down. Words cannot express what this film has taught me about the conflict.
