Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Al M — 17 Feb 2009
An astounding meditation on the force of dreams and their ability to alter the normal logic of reality, Herzog's film is a beautifully surreal journey into the passions that drive the human spirit, which often manifest themselves in apprent madness.
But Herzog deftly examines how such madness merely represents an alternative view of reality and how reality itself may be a dream from which we must awake in order to tap into a world that is far more beautiful and moving.
