Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Zack M — 18 Jun 2007
Werner Herzog is my favorite director, and Fitzcarraldo is his finest film. The making of the film itself was a monumental test of man's capacity for endurance, and all of that is evident on screen.
You haven't seen an epic film until you've seen a steamboat hauled over a mountain. Beautiful, tragic and utterly bizarre.
