Review of Fitzcarraldo (1982) by Daniel W — 10 Jan 2009
Klaus Kinski has a dream. A dream to build an opera house. A dream to build an opera house deep in the heart of the Peruvian jungle. What could possibly go wrong?
Werner Herzog explores man and nature once again with his well known obsessive verve. The visual showpiece of the hauling of a steamship with only pulleys and the physical labor of the natives, is truly amazing. And all real. A hypnotic masterpiece.
