This was, well, awful. It didn't loo great, so poor form on me for going. But as a teacher, I was interested enough to have a look.

But it was quickly apparent that this was a mistake.

Once, somewhere in the development of this film, was a story about he plight of the American public school system. It's a huge issue that could be easily mined for comedic gold, whilst still making legitimate comment on a real issue. You know, like what real comedies do...

However, we don't live in that world anymore, and comedies that use real life issues as a basis for humour, just quickly resort to painful gags and ridiculous antics of unlikable characters.

Ice Cube is easily the best performance in the film (except perhaps the under written turn from Dean Norris). But Charlie Day spends most of the film talking in an octave so high that only dogs can hear some of his dialogue. Adult characters act in a way that no adult would ever behave, and the film struggles to find any real moments of true comedy.
