Review of Fist Fight (2017) by Jay L — 31 May 2017
This film was on the brink of a complete disaster.
In order to watch the film, you must first suspend reality. In fact, you're going to have to pretend it's a world void of common sense, logic, and real world consequences. A female teacher bursts into a men's bathroom with no consequences. A teacher completely destroys a classroom and nearly decapitates a student with a fire axe as he proceeds to shatter the students desk. No one calls the police, student doesn't even tell his parents. Teacher calls 911 (after an entire day of dallying about wondering if he's going to survive getting beat up by another teacher who threatens him). 911 dispatcher laughed with entire department and hangs up. I mean- the list goes on and on and gets more and more ridiculous. So ignore the voice at the back of your head telling you "Hey! That's not right!".
You also have to fight through endless cliches and over the top phallic humor that seems fairly mundane after multiple occurrences. It's like the director threw shit at the wall to see what would stick. Then he threw more at the floor to see if it stuck the easier way.
Good film if you have nothing but time to waste and you're intent on seeing every film that comes into the Box Office.
