Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Andy W — 03 Apr 2010
Bizarrely 4:3 but the performances and the lenses are prime. The depth of field and the amazing use of sound create an immersive and all too believable atmosphere within which the everyday drama can engage.
The staging under the sure hand of Arnold elicits moments of intimacy, and an arching perspective that transforms events from mere cold and brutal reality into something cinematic, and poetic.
