Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Gabriel K — 20 Feb 2010
This film, done a bit in the Ken Loach spirit, probably qualifies as the revelation of the year from the UK. It deals with a tough teenage girl, an outcast at the age of 15, coming to terms with a hard upbringing.
Katie Jarvis acting debut here is simply riveting and very convincing, indeed. The emotional intensity in several of the scenes is memorable and makes the Andrea Arnold directing so much more amazing, especially in scenes where the main character played by Jarvis spins out of control.
A film definitely not to be missed.
