Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Rafal K — 02 Mar 2010
Another depressing English movie about a family who are all pretty much no hopers, and you can see the daughter, who this focuses on, turning out the same way. There is some hope when she ....SPOILER... shows some sense for once in this movie and walks away from working in the strip joint, but since she's taking off to drive around Wales with a no- hoper guy, you can pretty much see the way her life is going to end up. I felt a lot of compassion for all three of the women in this, the horrible mother and sister included, because life is so grim, and you can pretty much see the cycle has just carried on from the mum's upbringing, raising her girls the same way.
I liked this a lot. All the cast do a really great job and I actually found it funny in places as well, not sure if it was meant to be or not.
