Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Sam C — 07 Mar 2010
Katie Jarvis was fantastic in this role, creating a very believable character. Its hard to believe how an amateur reportadly discover at a train station could deliver such a great performance. Hopefully this is the first of many brilliant performances to come. I really liked the camera work, the director; Arnold always seemed to find the right camera angle and motion to compliment the scene.
This movie manages to make it seem as if you are really watching the lives of the characters rather than watching false interactions done for the benefit of the audience. This sometimes serves to make the viewer feel discomforted, as if they are watching something they shouldn't. This is the best part of the film and makes it really pull the viewer into the emotions of the characters.
Great movie, certainly one that should be more widely known in the US.
