Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Trevor H — 03 Sep 2010
Bleak, sour, but also hopeful and brilliant. First-time actress Katie Jarvis is superb as a frustrated chav who dreams of escaping her sinkhole estate through pointless dreams of being a dancer. There's beauty in the blasted wastelands, and an incredible half-hour near the end full of incredibly unsettling revengery.
A genuinely engaging film - and who'd have thought it from one of the hosts of No.73? (director Andrea Arnold)!
