Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Tomislav A — 13 Oct 2010
Fish Tank is unpleasant to watch in every way possible and unrelentingly realistic. Katie Jarvis played herself as Mia and that's why her role is one of the best teen roles I have ever seen. The movie, while being great as a character study is also powerfully atmospheric.
The greyness of concrete housing blocks and solitude of wide fields by the suburbs really captivates you. This is really one hell of a movie that deserves to be seen, although I must warn you that it sometimes isn't pleasant to sit through and it can be awkward if you're seeing it with a few more people.
I recommend you see it alone.
