Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Rafael C — 01 Jan 2011
I didn't know a thing about this going into it. A troubled teen has a tough time growing up in her town in England, and tries getting used to her mom's new boyfriend. Katie Jarvis is great as the lead, especially for being her first acting role.
Her mother is also a stand out, partying all the time and never really caring for her daughters. And of course Michael Fassbender is excellent as the boyfriend who tries to change the family but can never really make things work.
It's sort of like Kes or This Is England (just without the falcon or the skinheads). Some pretty memorable moments, including the great scene where they go fishing. I'm glad I got to check this one out.
