Andrea Arnold's approach is perfectly realistic, reducing the frame size and the depth of field, isolating 15-year-old Mia from the rest of the world, making her some-sort of a fish ready to bite Connor's bait.
Newcomer Kate Jarvis dominates the screen in a sad-beautiful way.
