Review of Fish Tank (2009) by Minh V — 11 Nov 2012
An authentic portrayal of a troubled teenage's hardship growing up in the project and coping life. However, it is incredibly boring with no value from an entertainment view point. It's worth noting that it was Katie Jarvis's, the actress who plays Mia, first role ever and she had no acting experience prior. She was seen arguing with her boyfriend at the train station and was casted. I praise the purity of her performance.
I also like the sexual tension between Mia and Connor. It was like an elephant in the room for them. The movie has a realistic plot but that's alone is not good enough because its direction caused it to come off drag on, boring, bleak, and depressing. The movie ends leaving me shallow like an empty fish tank. I'd not watch it again.
