Watch a man self-destruct and then find his peace when he faces his own mortality. Guy Pearce is great as ever, and Piper Perabo is equally good, but the revelation here is J.K.Simmons. Compare his Vacaro with his JJ in the Spidey movies and there's the full spectrum of his range.
Outstanding acting. Oh and the story? Not sublime enough to get full marks, but a damned good try.
