Review of First Men in the Moon (1964) by Bill W — 22 Dec 2007
It's hard to believe this was made just five years before someone from Earth actually walked on the moon. This film is quite dated now as to camera angles, editing, sound, and so on, so when you watch it you will need to have some patience with it.
You should watch it because this is quite a good film. It has a very unique steam punk style space craft, Martha Hyer being very easy on the eyes, Lionel Jeffries injecting a great deal of humor and Ray Harryhausen's inimitable stop motion animation and effects.
It's all preposterous but at the same time it's all really good fun.
