Richard Gere used to irritate the heck out of me in this movie, but now I don't mind him as Lancelot. From the get-go, though, Sean Connery and Julia Ormond made a splendid Arthur and Guinevere pair.
Along with the fantastic pomp and circumstance and night battle scene, this is one of the movies I reach for over and over. Yes, it's entirely unauthentic for the times, but it's the fairy tale version.
Go see "King Arthur" for a more gritty and historic version.
