Review of First Kid (1996) by Natalie L — 27 May 2008
First Kid: An underrated actor, Sinbad is very good in this comdedy drama about a secret service agent who gets the thankless detail of guarding the presidents bratty son. In time the two become touchingly close with Sinbads character providing the kind of surrogate fathering the boys ultra busy dad cant give.
The plot takes an inevitale trun toward greater drama when the young man is kidnapping but director David Mickey Evenas handles the whole thing very well and the resolution makes for fairly satisfying action.
But Sinbads presence is an agreebly warm one though he is also quiet funny and original in early sequence when the prezs son is tomenting him and makes this film surprisgly watchable.
