Review of First Born (2007) by Mostafa B — 03 Jul 2007

I was expecting something different from this movie, though I can't say I was entirely disappointed. Supernatural ghost story, this wasn't. However, it was very chilling, for reasons that are more down-to-earth than some people would expect.

However, it did have its moments of badness. It seemed like something was trying to be set up with 'Jenny', only that went nowhere. We don't know where the diary came from, and it's only hinted that the lead was writing in it herself. Time jumped all over the place in terms of the pregnancy, to the point where I was wondering whether she had a term baby or not. The movie had a good concept, but parts just felt rushed, and I think things could have been handled a bit better. Still, I don't consider it a waste of a rental fee, so that's something.
