Review of First Blood (1982) by Marco L — 23 Aug 2010
Ashamed to say, this is the first time I've seen this film. I can see now why it was such a hit and sprang forth a popular franchise affectively making Rambo into a pop-icon. To my amazement it actually has more to it than just Stallone as a one-man killing machine.
John Rambo is a returning and highly decorated Viet-NAM veteran struggling to find his place in the civilian world. To some extent this film still holds relevance today as many soldiers returning from the (unpopular) wars in the Middle-East struggle to find jobs in an already poor economy, while dealing with serious physical and psychological wounds.
