Review of First Blood (1982) by Xcv V — 12 Sep 2010
It's a great action film with some of the biggest arsehole villians in cinema...
Sylvester Stallone stars as John Rambo, a war hero with an extremely troubled mind who has just came back from fighting in Vietnam, like any man who has came back from the warzone he hopes to leave all the fighting and torture behind and return to a life of normalcy, sadly Rambo isn't welcomed home with celebration or cheers but angry mobs and is armed with nothing but the clothes on his back...
Now drifting from town to town, a certain police officer who is a real nasty piece of work threatens to book him just for entering the town, Rambo defies the officer with virtually no words or force and after a bust up at the police station (due to a flashback of him being tortured) ends up in a manhunt with John fleeing into the mountains with the media and entire police force not to far behind.
I loved every minute of it and still remains Stallone's best role since Rocky Balboa, the ending is filled with raw emotion as John reminises everything he has had to do to try and earn acceptance in the world, and then justs bursts into tears, it's a sad portrayal of a man who has no choice but to fight wars...
Final Verdict: Extremely gritty & gripping from begininng to end, this Stallone movie will always be better than "The Expendables".
