Review of Firestarter (1984) by Dawn P — 01 Oct 2008
Steven King's imagination once again surpasses his story-telling skills. I love the idea of this movie. Not only is it a person who can cause mass destruction with their mind, it's a child, who doesn't fully comprehend her abilities and their consequences.
Otherwise, there's not a lot to like about this film. The acting was bad, the script was bad, the score wasn't anything to write home about and the directing style was, to be kind, very safe. There's not a lot to say about Firestarter, really.
It's a little girl who sets fires and blows stuff up, with her mind. With that said, not a great movie, but entertaining thanks to the intrigue of, well, a little girl who sets fires and blows stuff up w/ her mind.
