Review of Fires on the Plain (1959) by Scott F — 17 Jul 2010
Not a movie for everyone. In 1945 when Japan surrendered, Japanese troops were left in the Phillipines to fend for themselves in retreat. The plot follows Tamura, a soldier who faces worse horror in defeat than he ever did in battle.
This is one grim and gruesome film, folks, and a very strong anti-war statement. Unforgetable!
