Review of Fireproof (2008) by Yi W — 20 Jul 2013
I like this movie a lot, and I am definitely not an old folk who watch Oprah and Dr. Phil and only see 2 movies a year (like some reviewer seem to assume the audiance this movie is targeted at). And I do not even consider myself a Christian! After watching this movie, I have a lot more respect for the Christian faith.
I grew up as a Kirk Cameron fan, and was most impressed to see him in this inspiring movie yesterday. In our current pop culture, there is not much material that instills honourable values, and this has led to so much misery in people's personal lives.
As a result we live in a world with no vision, with no value, and we are brainwashed by the maintream media to seek superficial gratifications and forfeit the base of our own happiness. I am glad that I watched this movie at the time that I can really appreciate and agree with its message, and sad to see negative reviews from 'top critics' of major publications.
Overall, really good message, acting and production, and a very enjoyable movie. Highly recommended to everyone friends or enemies alike. May all beings be happy :-).
