The inspirational, faith-driven film "Fireproof" will not extinguish all the hypocrisy, self-centeredness, deceit, and adultery which many marriages go through; but Fireproof's sincere, genial, and spiritual theme could never be extinguished as a betterment to our marriage society. Writer-Director Alex Kendrick did not commit cinematic sins in providing this important narrative to the cinematic society. In fact, may God bless his cinematic soul for his contribution. Kirk Cameron stars as Caleb Holt, a young fiery firefighter captain going through some rough marriage fires with his wife Catherine; played by a very hot Erin Bethea. The Holt marriage is in a burning state of disarray due to some familiar marriage problems as the aforementioned. Caleb Holt wants to put the inevitable divorce process a halt by demonstrating "love dare" generous acts for 40 days to his wife Catherine. How so? A religious-theme "love dare" book was provided to Caleb by his dad John, and being the loving father that he is, Father John dared Caleb to do the "love dares" sort-of-religious-speak. During the initial "love dare" process, Caleb feels dejected by the constant "brushing away" responses from Catherine. Can Caleb eventually put out Catherine's brush fires? Somewhere along the way- Caleb discovers that in order for his "love dare" to be a spiritual success & love conquer, he had to develop an altruistic relationship with God. I will not say no more because I don't want to be a spoiler arsonist and have you guys fire me as a pseudo movie critic. FIREPROOF WARNING: Do not go into "Fireproof" being critical of cinematic components such as: acting, directing, writing, cinematography, and production design. Because there is no verifiable proof in "Fireproof" that its enriched with those film requisites at a positive degree. For the record though, Kirk Cameron is the only experienced actor in the cast, the rest of the acting ensemble are mostly comprised of church volunteers. And even so, you sensed Cameron going through his adult thespian "growing pains" struggling a bit with his character. Nevertheless, the proof of "Fireproof" being classified as a very imperative film for all to see is the spiritual thesis of the narrative; and the context healing waters it delivers to aid in extinguishing many marriage problems some are going through. God bless "Fireproof"! Amen!
