Review of Fireproof (2008) by Gamze K — 02 Aug 2009
Well I had to watch this just so I could rip on it. I tend to watch christian films with an extra critical eye. So I wanted to see if this was a hit or miss, since everyone was saying how it was a hit.
I must say I enjoyed the underlying story, had a nice little twist at the end too. Acting felt pretty flat a lot a lot of parts, but that can also be blamed on the writing. A lot of the writing just seemed to be very stereotypical and cliche.
So the dialogue lacked emotion and uniqueness I felt. The soundtrack was non-existent just some Switchfoot sounds that would fade out after 10-20 seconds, And a lot of scene could have been improved if they had more music accompaniment .
All in all, it wasn't bad for a christian movie... Too bad Casper Van Dien wasn't in this, it could have been considered a christian comedy! Still bothered by kirk cameron's mainstream-ness, but I guess we all gotta get paid.
