Review of Fireproof (2008) by Suzy N — 21 Oct 2009
I looked forward to finally getting to watch this movie, I had been hearing about it for so long. It started off a little slow, I didn't know where Kirk's charactor was going to go. He wasn't a very nice guy, kinda dead inside. As their marriage drifted though you were pulled in to each charactor, not knowing if they should even be together, which is what they were wondering. So you had something vested in this movie, it drew you in. When he starts his journey to try to save his marriage, you see that he is putting in just the minimum amount into it, so that he can say he is trying - but until he and his father talked, and he saw the relationship with God and what God expected from him, he could not truly see what God expected for his relationship with his wife. You MUST have god first and foremost in your life so that he can guide you to be the best person you can be... the best son/daughter, husband/wife, father/mother... until you put God in your heart, you will be empty. When he finally saw that all of the faults he had pushed upon his wife were really his faults against God - to be honest - I felt a spiritual lightening in my heart. Almost like a release. I got more out of this movie than I ever thought I would. I am thankful that God brought this film to me - it opened my heart, mind and soul to giving it all over to God. In return, God will lead me in the correct path.... "I delight to do Thy will, O Lord, for I know Thy will for me is supreme good in my present and in my future".... "With God ALL things are possible".
THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR THIS MOVIE!
